I take pictures of everything, much to the annoyance of friends and family. But there is something about shooting nature, that's different from people. Nature doesn't care about the camera. Even in an industrial landscape like Long Island City, nature is everywhere. Sometimes you just have to look a little closer.

"in memorial": a photographic tribute to the now-gone long island city  garden of actress/dazzle dancer Cary Curran"

           
A photographic series of the eclectic garden of one of Long Island City's most unique characters. Long Island City gentrification has only gained momentum over the past year forcing dozens and dozens of "creative souls" out of their homes, studios and green spaces due to building eviction as owners sell and builders erect new "luxury" residences. The photographs, taken the night before the garden was dismantled permanently, are not only a memorial to a single unique green space now gone, but to all of those artist residences, studios and gardens lost in the ongoing process.
